SAVE THE DATE!! Saturday, September 24, 2011 Greetings to you in the name of Christ! This note contains information regarding the annual “Saturday in the Park” fund and awareness raising event benefiting Operation Love and Madison County. Please read, share with your missions team, and plan on supporting this event with your attendance, a booth, and perhaps a table providing information about your church and the services you provide. Please note some significant and exciting changes for this year’s event!
FORMAT: This year the walk will go through the neighborhoods of Anderson, showing support for many of the recipients of the services of Operation Love. This is a great way to show all of Anderson that the church wants to be among the people, not separate from them!
HOW YOU CAN HELP: We need you, as the senior pastor or primary
point of contact, to ensure that your church is involved and committed to this
event. You can do this in a variety of
ways. 1. Get walking teams together. Teams of walkers will gather pledges from
family and friends and turn the funds in to Operation Love to help continue to fund
the ministries. This is a significant
portion of the revenue that Operation Love receives annually, and is an often
overlooked but much-needed method of support. 2. Get bikers committed! Tell the bikers in your church, neighborhood,
or circle of friends about this new way they can use their bikes to benefit the
ministry of Operation Love. The course
is planned for about a seventy-five mile ride through three counties, beginning
and ending at South Meridian COG. At the
end of the ride there will be a bike show and bike games. PLEASE let you riders know about this event. 3. Carnival Booth. Design and operate some type of booth (dunk
tank, bounce house, balloon pop, ring toss, corn hole, fingerprinting, child
safety, etc.) that will attract neighbors, provide fun, and make the afternoon
enjoyable for everyone that attends the carnival. 4. Information Table. If you have a booth, you may also set up an information
table with information regarding events, ministries, and programs your church offers. 5. Plan to join us on September 1. We need a representative from each church to meet with us on September 1st at 7pm to lay out plans, booths, and table space for the event, and to secure volunteers for registration, security, and hosting services. Please identify one or two people from your congregation who will represent you at the meeting, and send their names and contact information (e-mail and/or phone numbers) to pastordon@mainstreetcog.net. The meeting will be held at the South Meridian Church of God.
If you would like a staff or board member from Operation Love to come and visit your church to speak regarding the event or the ministries of Operation Love, please let us know and we’ll make arrangements for that to happen.
Here are the details for the event – a printable flyer will be following next week, as well as a PowerPoint slide that can be inserted into your announcement rotation.
Above all, THANK YOU for your continued participation and support of Operation Love Ministries! |
