At Main Street Church of God our
are based on our CORE VALUES.

These values are at the center
of everything we do.
Here are the things that we value:

Ø   Truth of the Scriptures  -  We believe the Bible to be the inerrant word of God, and the revelation of God to his people. We believe the truths of the Bible are timeless and unchanging, therefore they will not be compromised. (2 Timothy 3:16)

Ø   Lost People  -  We understand that God sent his Son, Jesus, into the world for the expressed purpose of seeking and saving the lost. (Luke 19:10) Because of this, the value that God places on lost souls, we, too, value them and commit ourselves to bringing the truth of Christ into our neighborhoods and community.

Ø   Full Devotion to Christ  -  We understand and believe that following Christ is not a casual following, but a commitment to a lifestyle that honors God. We understand that God despises the lukewarm (Revelation 3:16) and requires us to be fully devoted followers. (Matthew 16:24, 19:21)

Ø   Relational Connectedness   - Jesus modeled relationships by bringing a small group of disciples into his inner circle. He emphasized love for one another as a way that people would know we were his disciples. (John 13:34; 1 John 3:14) We believe that we cannot love one another without knowing one another and connecting with one another.

Ø   History and Tradition  -  The prophet Joel commands the people to tell their children, so they can tell their children, who can pass it on to the next generation, emphasizing the importance of passing on the history and tradition of how God has provided (Joel 1:3). We believe that the history and tradition of the Christian Church as well as the Church of God Reformation Movement are important for an understanding and connection to the past, with an eye on the future.

Ø      Spiritual Gifts and Service  -  We believe that God has gifted each Christ-follower with Spiritual Gifts so that we can serve and glorify Him, and edify one another. God is honored and his kingdom grows when we serve in our area of giftedness. 1 Corinthians 12 - 14

Ø      Relevance  -  Jesus taught the greatest truths in a manner that everyone in his audience could understand, making eternal truths relevant. To do this he employed the use of parables stories that were relevant to his listeners and demonstrative of Gods timeless truths. We are convinced that this model for teaching the truths of the Bible making its truths relevant to those who are hearing it while it is called today enhances the ability of those who are hearing to understand the truth, thereby coming to know God.

Ø      Intentionality  -  Jesus commanded his disciples to go into the world to make disciples, and to baptize them, and teach them to obey (Matthew 28:19-20.) In making this command Jesus provided an intentional action plan. Go, make disciples, baptize, teach. The steps are intentional and active.

Ø      Excellence  - We believe that God is worthy of our first-fruits, the best that we have. This includes our finances, our time, and our worship. We give God our best simply because He is worthy of our best. (Colossians 3:23-24)

Ø      Authenticity  - We believe that authenticity must permeate all aspects of our lives. Whether in the church or outside the church, our walk must be authentic in order for God to be honored. (John 3:21; 2 Corinthians 10:7)

These values drive our vision... “To be a church where people routinely experience the transforming power of Jesus Christ, where Biblical disciples are continually developed, and where full devotion to Christ is normal and expected.”

We believe the transforming power of Jesus Christ:

Ø      Transforms the hearts of sinners

Ø      Transforms the behavior of believers

We believe Biblical disciples:

Ø      Continue to grow in Christ

Ø      Take the message of Christ to everyone with whom they come into contact

We believe a fully devoted follower of Christ:

Ø      Has experienced the saving grace offered through the sacrifice of Christ.

Ø      Will participate in group activities

Ø      Will be dedicated to their personal spiritual growth

Ø      Will discover and use their spiritual gifts

Ø      Will support the local church through giving of time and financial resources

As a body of believers, we have no formal membership in the church. We believe in the priesthood of all believers and that relationship with God can be addressed by each individual as they grow and mature in the faith.

And along with this belief, Main Street also holds that it is the responsibility of every person in the church to conduct a ministry and to serve God as they are able. We see our pastor as a guide and advisor as we branch out into our private worlds to share God's love with our friends, family, and co-workers.
